Sujitha IAS

Lack of eyesight has not deterred J.Sujitha (24) from having a vision. When the Union Public Service Commission announced the results of the Civil Services (Main) Examination on Thursday, she came to know that she was just two months away from realising her dream of joining the Indian Foreign Service.
If she scores well in the personality test to be conducted at the UPSC in New Delhi later this month, her dream will become a reality.
“I want to serve my brethren, the persons with disability. So I have opted for the Civil Services,” said Ms.Sujitha, a resident of Tindivanam. She attended coaching classes for the Mains conducted by the Manithaneyam IAS/IPS Free Coaching Centre in Chennai. As many as 68 candidates who attended the free classes conducted by the centre have cleared the Main examination.
For the prelims, she attended classes conducted by Excell Career India. Her options were Sociology and Public Administration for the mains and Sociology for the prelims. “When we have a problem, we tend to seek excellence. The challenge in the form of my visual impairment has made me seek excellence,” she says.
She stressed the need for recruiting more persons with disability in the Civil Services as they would be better placed to understand the problems and make appropriate policy decisions for them.
“My father was able to afford all modern gadgets for my studies. But the rural people who cannot have such facilities have to receive support from the government,” she added.
“I am very thankful to the Manithaneyam IAS/IPS Free Coaching Centre and Excell Career India where I received training,” said Ms.Sujitha.
“The training for Mains exam at Manithaneyam IAS/IPS Free Coaching Centre was free of cost. It was very helpful. But I refused a free training offer from the Excell Career India for my prelims coaching. There are many persons with disability who are not able to achieve because of poor financial condition. That should change,” she said.
“The service of Manithaneyam IAS/IPS Free Coaching Centre is very helpful for rural students,” she added.
If she scores well in the personality test later this month, Sujitha's dream will become a reality.
